The Pantadome system forms a canopy for 17,000 people by first preassembling hinged segments and then raising this structure into place. Sports hall named for the patron saint of Catalonia is to be one of the principal locations for 1992 Barcelona Olympics. The jointed roof allows both light and ventilation; its undulating silhouette is carefully adjusted to take into account drama of surrounding landscape.
